Located on the northwestern tip of the Bodrum Peninsula, just 18 kilometers from Bodrum town, Yalıkavak is a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern luxury.

Much like Datça’s relationship to Marmaris, Yalıkavak offers a quieter, more refined alternative to Bodrum’s bustling energy, while still carrying the subtle tension of ongoing development. Thankfully, the village has managed to maintain its authenticity, with no towering high-rises disrupting its picturesque harbor view.

Things to Do in Yalıkavak
Yalıkavak is known across Türkiye for its delicious köfte (Turkish meatballs)—a must-try when visiting the town. Beyond the culinary delights, visitors can enjoy strolling through the lively town center, especially on market days:
Tuesdays: Fresh produce market
Thursdays: Textiles and household goods market

For sea lovers, Yalıkavak Marina is the crown jewel of the town. With 620 berths accommodating yachts up to 135 meters, it’s not only a hub for luxury vessels but also a vibrant area full of upscale shops, gourmet restaurants, and entertainment venues.

The coastline offers a variety of beaches and beach clubs, while the steady breezes make Yalıkavak a favorite among windsurfing enthusiasts. Notably, Yalıkavak hosted the RS:X Youth World Championships in windsurfing back in 2009, welcoming 109 competitors from around the globe.

A Glimpse Into the Past
Human settlement in Yalıkavak dates back to the second millennium BCE. Historically, it was known as the main sponge diving port of the Bodrum area, a tradition that has largely given way to tourism today. Yet traces of its maritime heritage linger in the town’s spirit and traditions.

Getting to Yalıkavak
Reaching Yalıkavak is straightforward with regular dolmuş services:
Bodrum – Yalıkavak: €1.40 | Journey time: 25 minutes (runs every 30 minutes in summer; less frequent in winter).

There is no direct dolmuş to Göltürkbükü; you’ll need to take a taxi (€14–€17 by day, €22–€25 at night) or transfer via Bodrum.

Whether you’re seeking a luxurious marina experience, a taste of local flavors, or a quiet spot to watch the Aegean sunset, Yalıkavak delivers it all with effortless charm.
