Saklıkent Ski Resort – Where the Sun Meets the Snow
Nestled high in the Taurus Mountains, just 45 kilometers from the sun-soaked beaches of Antalya, Saklıkent Ski Resort offers a truly unique winter sports experience in Türkiye. This hidden gem is one of the rare places in the world where you can ski in the morning and swim in the Mediterranean by afternoon. Blending snow-covered slopes with clear blue skies and panoramic mountain views, Saklıkent provides a refreshing winter escape for adventurers, families, and nature lovers alike.
Established in the 1970s, Saklıkent (meaning “Hidden City”) was designed to serve Antalya’s growing demand for winter recreation. Its location on the northern face of Bakırlı Mountain allows the resort to receive ample snowfall from late December to early April, making it ideal for skiing, snowboarding, and snow trekking. With its relatively short but intense season, the resort is especially popular among locals and regional tourists who seek an affordable and accessible alternative to the larger ski destinations in Türkiye.
The resort sits at an altitude of 2,000 meters, with the summit reaching up to 2,547 meters. There are a total of 500 meters of vertical drop, providing suitable slopes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced skiers. Saklıkent has two main ski lifts—a T-bar and a chairlift—serving several well-groomed pistes. The longest run stretches about 4 kilometers, offering scenic and exhilarating rides down the mountain.
Saklıkent Ski Resort’s facilities include ski and snowboard rentals, ski schools for children and adults, and cozy mountain lodges with panoramic views. The central lodge area offers a restaurant, café, and sun terrace where visitors can warm up with traditional Turkish cuisine, hot drinks, and mulled wine. Accommodation options are limited but charming, with a few alpine-style chalets and pensions for overnight stays. Many visitors also opt to stay in Antalya and make a day trip to the slopes.
One of the highlights of Saklıkent is its “Sea-to-Ski” appeal—a phenomenon made possible by the resort’s proximity to the coast. On a clear spring day, visitors can ski in the morning and dip into the Mediterranean Sea in Antalya by late afternoon, creating a rare dual-seasonal adventure that defines the Saklıkent experience.
The ski season typically runs from late December through early April, depending on snowfall. January and February offer the most reliable conditions, with temperatures ranging between -5°C and 5°C. The resort is accessible by car or shuttle bus from Antalya city center, and the drive takes just over an hour. Roads are regularly cleared of snow, but visitors are advised to check weather conditions and vehicle requirements before traveling.
Although relatively small in size compared to other ski destinations in Türkiye such as Uludağ or Erciyes, Saklıkent’s charm lies in its natural simplicity, accessibility, and unforgettable views. It’s a perfect destination for those wanting to enjoy a quick winter retreat without venturing too far from the Mediterranean coast.
Whether you’re a first-time skier or an experienced snowboarder, Saklıkent Ski Resort offers an unforgettable blend of adventure, nature, and warmth—with a touch of snow magic. Come for the skiing, stay for the view, and leave with a story only Saklıkent can offer.
