Ölüdeniz, located in the Fethiye district of Muğla Province, is one of the most iconic and photographed beaches in the world. Famed for its calm, crystal-clear turquoise waters and stunning mountain backdrop, this serene lagoon gets its name—meaning “Dead Sea”—from its almost motionless surface throughout the year.
The postcard-perfect Kumburnu Lagoon, right next to the main beach, is one of Ölüdeniz’s most recognizable views. This area is also a global hub for paragliding. Adventurers from around the world come to Babadağ Mountain (1,969 meters) to glide over the turquoise sea and take in panoramic views from above—an unforgettable thrill for all ages.
Ölüdeniz offers a wide variety of cafés, restaurants, and accommodations ranging from budget hostels to luxury resorts. You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas or enjoy water sports such as canoeing, paddleboarding, and pedal boating. Daily boat tours departing from Ölüdeniz will take you to natural gems like the Blue Cave, Butterfly Valley, and St. Nicholas Island.
How to Get There:
Ölüdeniz is located about 13 km from Fethiye city center. You can reach it by car or take a 20–25-minute minibus (dolmuş) ride from Fethiye. If you’re flying into Dalaman Airport, you can get to Fethiye via shuttle or private transfer, then continue to Ölüdeniz.
Best Time to Visit:
The best months to visit Ölüdeniz are from May to October when the sea is warm and skies are clear—perfect for beach lovers and paragliders alike. For fewer crowds, consider visiting in early June or late September.
