About Serik
Serik is a district located east of Antalya, set between the fertile plains of the Köprüçay River and the Mediterranean coastline. Traditionally known for agriculture—especially citrus fruits, cotton, and greenhouse farming—Serik has gradually become a gateway to some of Antalya’s most important historical and touristic landmarks.
The district’s roots stretch back to antiquity, when this region formed part of ancient Pamphylia. Just a short distance from the modern town center lies Aspendos, home to one of the best-preserved Roman theaters in the world. Over centuries, Serik has witnessed Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman influences, each leaving subtle marks on its cultural landscape.
Today, Serik balances everyday local life with tourism-driven movement. Local markets, small family-run shops, and agricultural fields define its character, while nearby luxury resorts in Belek and the ancient cities surrounding the district attract international visitors. Serik itself remains authentic and grounded, offering a quieter perspective on Antalya beyond the coastal resorts.
Walking through Serik, you sense a rhythm shaped by seasons and soil rather than crowds. The mornings belong to farmers and shopkeepers; afternoons slow down under the Mediterranean sun. This understated atmosphere makes Serik not just a stop on the way to famous sites, but a place where the modern life of rural Antalya can still be observed.
How to Get There
Serik is approximately 40 km east of Antalya city center.
From Antalya, you can reach Serik by intercity buses and minibuses (dolmuş) departing regularly from Antalya Bus Terminal. By car, the D400 coastal highway provides easy access, with a driving time of around 45 minutes. Antalya Airport is about 30 km away, making Serik easily reachable for international travelers.
