Welcome to the Tekirdağ Muratlı Atatürk House Museum, a historical treasure that commemorates the significant visit of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to this charming one-story house. This museum beautifully captures the essence of that memorable day on June 3, 1936, when Atatürk personally inspected the migrant residences under construction in Muratlı.
Situated in a quaint house featuring three rooms and a kitchen, the museum proudly displays captivating photographs of Atatürk’s arrival in Muratlı, along with a collection of ethnographic works. The rich history of this place is intertwined with the immigrant exchanges outlined in the Lausanne Treaty on July 24, 1923. Tekirdağ Province, Muratlı District, was established to provide a new home for the Turks who had emigrated from Bulgaria during the years 1934-1935.
During his visit, Atatürk graciously accepted the hospitality of a local family residing in this house. The daughter of the family had the honor of serving Turkish coffee to the revered leader. The house, meticulously furnished in accordance with the conditions of that era, left a lasting impression on Atatürk, who expressed his contentment with the warm reception.
In a moment of generosity and kindness, Atatürk conveyed a heartfelt message to the fortunate immigrant family, saying, “Dear fortunate immigrant, remember the 3rd of June when the greatest person of the country visited your house. He presented precious love to all of you.” This sentiment encapsulates the significance of this historical site, where the spirit of Atatürk’s visit is preserved for generations to come.
Visit the Tekirdağ Muratlı Atatürk House Museum to step back in time and relive the hospitality and warmth that defined that momentous day. Immerse yourself in the history, culture, and legacy of this unique house that stands as a testament to the enduring connection between Atatürk and the people of Muratlı.
