Hidden among the green hills just outside the ancient city of Ephesus lies the Grotto of the Seven Sleepers (Yedi Uyuyanlar Mağarası), a mystical site steeped in legend and faith.
According to ancient Christian and Islamic traditions, seven young men sought refuge here to escape persecution and miraculously fell asleep for centuries.
The story of the Seven Sleepers is referenced in both Christian texts and the Qur’an (Surah Al-Kahf), making the site a revered place for pilgrims of different faiths. Although the original structure is partially collapsed, the spiritual atmosphere remains powerful.
Nearby, ruins of a Byzantine basilica and ancient tombs can also be explored, giving visitors a glimpse into the deep historical layers of Ephesus beyond its famous ruins.

How to Get There
By Foot: Only a 10-15 minute walk northeast from Ephesus ruins (Upper Gate).
By Car: Short drive from Selçuk center (5 minutes).
