Nestled between the olive groves and pine forests of Türkiye’s Milas Muğla Province, the ancient city of Euromos invites visitors to explore one of the best-preserved temples of antiquity. Historical Background
Euromos was originally part of ancient Caria and later came under the influence of the Hellenistic and Roman worlds. The city’s name likely derives from the Greek word “eurys” meaning “broad,” referring to its wide, fertile plains.
Inscriptions show that the citizens of Euromos were proud participants in regional religious and political life, and the magnificent Temple of Zeus was their ultimate symbol of prestige.
How to Get There
By Car:
Euromos is located approximately 12 km northwest of Milas, Türkiye, right off the D525 highway connecting Milas and Söke. There is a small parking area near the site.By Public Transport:
You can take a dolmuş (shared minibus) from Milas towards Söke and ask to be dropped off at Euromos junction. From there, a short walk brings you to the ruins.
Tip: Many travelers combine their visit to Euromos with nearby sites like Labranda and Herakleia for a full-day ancient city tour.
Best Time to Visit
Spring (April-May) and Autumn (September-October) are perfect, with mild weather and blooming landscapes. Summer visits are possible, but bring water, a hat, and sun protection as shade is limited.
