Emirgan Park is a historical urban park located in the Emirgan neighbourhood in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul, Turkey, on the European coast of the Bosphorus. It is one of the largest public parks in Istanbul, covering an area of 117 acres. It is surrounded by high walls and has two decorative ponds.

Emirgan Park has a rich history and culture. It was named after Emir Gûne Han, a Safavid Persian commander, who surrendered his castle to Sultan Murad IV and followed him to Istanbul in the 17th century. The park was later owned by Isma’il Pasha, the Khedive of Egypt and Sudan, who built three wooden pavilions  – the “Yellow Pavilion,” the “White Pavilion,” and the “Pink Pavilion” in the park in the 19th century. The  charming pavilions serve not only as venues for private functions but also as delightful cafeterias and restaurants, adding to the park’s allure..

Emirgan Park is a natural beauty and the lungs of Istanbul, with more than 120 plant species, including rare trees such as stone pine, Turkish pine, blue pine, Japanese cedar, beech, ash tree, sapindus, Hungarian oak and camphor tree. The park is also home to various bird and animal species.

For those seeking the perfect time to visit, Emirgan Park truly shines in spring. It plays a central role in the Istanbul Tulip Festival, a spectacular event celebrated in April. During this season, the park’s formal gardens burst into a kaleidoscope of vibrant tulips, creating a breathtaking and colorful tapestry that enchants the sense

Emirgan Park is a great place for outdoor activities and sports. You can enjoy hiking, biking, camping, picnicking, fishing, birdwatching and photography in the park. There are also playgrounds, sports fields, barbecue areas and resting places for visitors. The park has a well-maintained infrastructure and security system.

Emirgan Park is open every day from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. You can reach the park by public transportation or by car.
