The Adana Atatürk House Museum is one of the most meaningful historical landmarks in southern Türkiye. Located on Seyhan Street in central Adana, this elegant 19th-century house is where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed during his visit to the city on 15 March 1923, accompanied by his wife Latife Hanım.
Originally owned by Suphi Paşa, a member of the influential Ramazanoğulları family, the building reflects the architectural identity of traditional Adana houses. In 1981—coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Atatürk’s birth—the house was officially converted into a museum and opened to the public under the authority of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Every year on 15 March, official ceremonies commemorating Atatürk’s arrival in Adana are held here, reinforcing the museum’s symbolic role in Türkiye’s modern history.
Architecture of the Museum Building
The structure is a two-storey stone masonry house with a bay window, hipped roof, and spacious inner layout typical of classical Adana residential architecture. Due to its cultural and architectural value, the building is registered as a Protected Immovable Cultural Asset by the Ministry of Culture.
