The Monument of Memmius on Kuretler Street in the north of the square was built in name of Gallius Memmius, one of the grandchildren of Dictator Sulla in 1st century B.C. Figures of Memmius, his father Caius and grandfather sulla are seen in the monument. Heracles Gate built in the 4th or 5th centuries is located on Kuretler Street. Name was given for Heracles (Hercules) reliefs on the blocks on either side of the door.
