Egyptian Obelisk (Theodosius Obelisk)

The oldest archaic work is the obelisk build by Egyptian pharaoh Tutmosis III in 1500s B.C. It was placed in front of Amon-Ra Temple in Karnack with an akin. It was brought to Alexandria and waited horizontally for many years in a period. Obelisk was brought to Istanbul in 390 A.D. by Emperor Theodosius (379-395), and constructed on a marble pedestal. On the four sides of the obelisk, there is Egyptian Hieroglyph telling heroism of Tutmosis III. At the top obelisk in a frame, Egyptian god Amon-Ra and Tutmosis III are seen hand by hand. On the four side of the marble pedestal, there are depictions of the Roman era about the Hippodrome. Relief of construction of the Obelisk, Emperor Lodge, car racing, musicians, belly dancers are remarkable.
