History of Kadıköy in the legends extends to Megaranians who established Khalkedon in 680 B.C. As a one of the most important centers in the Byzantine period, it hosted the Khalkedon Council in 451. However, it lost its importance increasingly after Byzantine became smaller.
It is one of the important attraction centers with shopping, cultural and entertainment areas as well as residence of middle and higher income groups. Wide coastline of the Marmara in Kadıköy is surrounded with beaches and beautiful promenades.
