It is 135 km away from Antalya, and established slopes of Western Taurus. It is a beautiful holiday center with wide beaches on Mediterranean Sea, good accommodation opportunities, and restaurants and bars surrounding the port.

The first structure draws the attention behind the port is Red Tower (Kızıl Kule) built by Seljuk Turks in 1226. 33 meters high tower which is the symbol of the town is in octagonal form, and it has five stories. There is a cistern in the middle reaching to upper floor.

In the peninsula of Alanya protruding into the Mediterranean Sea, historical Seljuk castle is also well preserved. Korakesion was established by pirates in this peninsula in 2nd century B.C. Piracy activities ended after Roman commander Pompeius invaded the city in 65 B.C.

Today’s Alanya Castle was built by Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubad over the old castle remains in years between 11250 and 1230. Palace of Alaaddin Keykubad was located in interior castle built in the summit of the peninsula inside the castle. Palace remains, military structures, cisterns, and a fresco courtyard can be seen in here. Byzantine church is also significant in this region where was surrounded by solid walls.

In the middle castle which covers the west of Alanya Castle, there are numerous structure remains. Castle Mosque (Süleymaniye Mosque) which was built by Seljuk Turks was rebuilt during the Sultan Süleiman the Magnificent period. In the northern end of the Middle Castle, there is a small castle called Ehmedek which was repaired by Seljuks who came to the area in Byzantine period. In the west of this peninsula which protrudes to the sea in the middle of Alanya, 2 km long Cleopatra Beach with fine sand is located.


In the middle of the northern end of Castle Ehmedek called the Byzantine period from the Seljuk were restored castle is small. Protruding into the sea in the middle of Alanya to the west of this historic peninsula, 2 km long fine sandy Cleopatra Beach is located.
